February 2012
Hi Everyone
Well it’s the awards season and although the actors and actresses want to win a ‘gong’ for their talent, it’s their fashion and grooming that comes under the closest scrutiny. Nobody wants the dreaded cross next to their picture in the mags…
At the Golden Globes, Angelina Jolie looked incredible in an ivory Atelier Versace gown with a flash of red. Her makeup was simple yet striking with red lips being the focus. Red lips are always popular with the celebs so try Ruby liner by Sisley with Tom Ford Red lippy over the top or go glossy with Yves Saint Laurent new high gloss lippy in red.
Closer to home were the National Television Awards where Coronation Street scooped best soap and leading the way in the style stakes were Shobna Gulati in a plunging pinky/purple Nadine Merabi leaf dress, with Stuart Weissman bag and shoes and wearing limited edition jewellery from Boodles in their Wonderland collection! I kept Shobna’s eyes quite smoky and then applied two sets of lashes from Nouveau whilst emphasising the lash line with Illemasqua black liquid liner, then highlighted her cheekbones with Benefit Girl Meets Pearl. Michelle Keegan always knows how to make an entrance; she chose a nude floor length shimmering sequined dress. Her long tresses were scooped up into a loose updo and I chose to go with peaches and golds, using a mixture of MAC and Guerlain with Sisley brow pencil in Cappuccino. Nude lippy from Tom Ford and to keep her collection shine free on the t-zone I used New CID powder compact, which even has a light inside it so you can see you can your face anytime, anywhere!
There was also a very nostalgic feel to the celebs style and that will continue throughout the year with strong style influences from movies like The Artist and My Week With Marilyn. So, false lashes top and bottom to create a Tallulah Bankhead look and strong brows with liquid liner for 50’s screen siren.
The Oscars are this month and I’ll be intrigued to see the winners and losers in more ways than one!
Have a great month.
